1. Metal Roofing Projects
Butyl waterproof membrane is a core sealing and waterproofing material specially optimized for metal roof systems, covering all vulnerable water-leakage parts of steel roofing. The applicable positions include horizontal and vertical overlapping joints of color steel tiles, self-tapping screw fixation holes, connecting gaps between ridge covers and corrugated panels, peripheral details of roof gutters and water outlets, and the transition joints between daylighting panels and metal panels.
Metal roofs are exposed to extreme temperature changes all year round, with the surface temperature exceeding 70°C in high-temperature summer exposure and dropping sharply at night, resulting in frequent thermal expansion and contraction of metal panels. Conventional waterproof materials are prone to high-temperature flowing, degumming and low-temperature brittleness and cracking, leading to repeated leakage. In contrast, butyl waterproof membrane features excellent tensile elasticity and follow-up deformation performance, which can synchronously expand and contract with metal panels without falling off or cracking. It has super strong adhesion to metal surfaces, achieving long-term stable sealing of nail holes and panel joints, and solving the pain point of easy water leakage of metal roofs permanently.
2. Door, Window and Curtain Wall Sealing Projects
This membrane is widely used for gap sealing between aluminum alloy door and window frames and concrete walls or brick walls, as well as joint sealing between curtain wall glass and metal keel frames. Different from conventional waterproof materials, the core advantage of butyl membrane in this scenario is outstanding air tightness and water vapor barrier performance.
It can effectively block the convection of internal and external air, reduce building energy consumption caused by air leakage, and prevent fine particles such as PM2.5 from penetrating through structural gaps. In addition, building doors and windows and curtain walls will produce tiny displacement under the action of wind pressure and seasonal temperature difference for a long time. The high elongation and flexible toughness of butyl waterproof membrane can adapt to this dynamic structural deformation, avoiding the problems of cracking and air/water leakage of rigid sealing materials, and maintaining long-term stable sealing effect.
3. Underground and Tunnel Engineering (Anti-channeling Water Core Advantage)
In large-scale underground infrastructure projects such as basement floors and side walls, tunnel linings, comprehensive pipe galleries, and subway stations, butyl waterproof membrane adopts the full bonding construction process as the preferred waterproof system. Its biggest technical advantage is solving the common problem of water channeling in underground waterproofing.
After the butyl membrane is fully bonded with the concrete base surface, no hollow gap exists between the membrane and the base. Even if local damage occurs to the waterproof layer, the infiltration water will not flow horizontally along the base gap, and the leakage point is completely fixed at the damaged position. This feature enables accurate positioning and targeted maintenance in the later stage, greatly reducing maintenance difficulty and cost. Compared with empty-laid waterproof materials such as SBS membranes which are prone to large-area water channeling and blind maintenance, butyl full-bond waterproof system has more reliable waterproof and repair performance.
4. Green Roof & Planting Roof Projects
For roof gardens, planting roofs and building greening platforms with anti-root piercing requirements, special root-resistant butyl waterproof membrane is the designated professional material, which must be equipped with official root penetration resistance test reports to meet engineering acceptance standards.
Different from ordinary chemical root-resistant materials that rely on chemical additives to inhibit root growth and have potential aging and failure risks, the root-resistant principle of butyl membrane is physical dense protection. Its molecular structure is compact and uniform without tiny gaps, which can physically block the downward penetration and growth of plant roots, and will not cause chemical pollution to soil and vegetation. It has the dual advantages of permanent root resistance and environmental protection, and is suitable for long-term waterproof and anti-root engineering of all building planting surfaces.
5. Water Pool and Water Treatment Facility Projects
Butyl waterproof membrane is applicable to the long-term waterproof anti-seepage treatment of various water storage and water treatment facilities, including fire water pools, landscape ornamental pools, swimming pools, sewage treatment tanks and industrial water tanks.
The material has excellent long-term water immersion resistance and hydrolytic stability. The butyl rubber adhesive layer will not emulsify, degrade or lose viscosity after long-term immersion in water. Moreover, the lap joint of the membrane has special wet adhesion performance, and the bonding tightness will be further improved in humid and water environments, effectively avoiding water seepage at the lap joints, and solving the failure problem of ordinary waterproof materials that are easy to peel off and leak in water for a long time.
6. Node Strengthening and Detailed Waterproofing Treatment
In all building waterproofing projects, structural nodes are the weakest and most leakage-prone parts. Butyl waterproof membrane acts as a universal reinforcing patch for detailed waterproofing, which is widely used for auxiliary strengthening treatment before the construction of the main waterproof layer.
Key applicable details include internal and external corner roots of parapet walls, penetrating roof pipe roots, downspout openings, exhaust pipe bases, and equipment foundation bottom plates. These parts have complex structural shapes and concentrated structural stress, which are prone to cracking and water leakage. The high flexibility, random cutting and on-site fitting performance of butyl membrane can perfectly adapt to various irregular node structures, effectively disperse structural stress, and greatly improve the overall waterproof reliability of the project.
7. Old Building Renovation and Waterproof Maintenance Projects
For the waterproof renovation and emergency maintenance of old roofs, outer wall cracks and invalid old waterproof layers, butyl waterproof membrane is an efficient and low-load renovation material. It can be directly pasted on the original old waterproof layer, cracked base surface and old building surface without removing the original damaged waterproof structure and base layer.
The construction process is simple and efficient, which can greatly shorten the construction cycle and reduce construction waste and renovation cost. Meanwhile, the membrane is thin in thickness and light in weight, which will not increase the static load of the building. It is very suitable for rapid waterproof repair and overall renovation of various existing buildings, old factories and residential buildings.
